2022 SuperNats XXV Event Format and Schedule

  • Morning Group: KA100 Senior, KA100 Junior, KA100 Master, Micro Swift
  • Afternoon Group: Mini Swift, X30 Junior, X30 Master, X30 Senior, Master Shifter, Pro Shifter

Racing Format

In addition to multiple practice sessions, all classes will receive a minimum of one (1) qualifying session, three (3) individual heat races, and one (1) main event (except as described below). The grid order for the main event will be based on points earned in the heat races (except as described below). The 4 classes of KA100 Junior, KA100 Senior, X30 Senior and Pro Shifter will run elimination flights/LCQ's.

 4-Min Qualifying Sessions for ALL Classes 

In order to provide competitors with not only a fair but safe Qualifying session, we will be splitting Qualifying into smaller fields. The results of Practice 6 for all classes will be used to grid competitors in a new qualifying order. Q2 and Q1 groups do not change in this process, and they should report to grid the same way they reported for their practice sessions 5 and 6.
  • Each Qualifying Group will be split in 2, based on their best times in Practice 6.
  • The slower half will be placed in order, in the front half of the grid.
  • The faster half will be placed in order in the back half of the grid.
    • In the event there are an odd number of karts, the faster half will have more karts than the slower half.
  • The slower half will take the track first, for their 4-min Qualifying session.
  • At 4 minutes we will checker those drivers and they will report to scales as usual.
    • Any disabled karts will remain on track and will be picked up after the 2nd session.
  • The faster half will then be released on track for their 4-min Qualifying session.
  • In all sessions drivers have 30 seconds to take the track before the grid is closed. You will not be able to Qualify in the next session. Any driver that Qualifies in the wrong session will be DQ’d.
To further explain the gridding process,
  • If you finished in 1st during Practice 6 of a 40 kart field, you will be placed on grid position 21, 2nd on grid position 22 and so on.
  • The driver that finished in 21st place will be placed on grid position 1, 22nd on grid position 2 and so on.
  • Grid positions 1-20 will take the first Qualifying session of their Group.
  • Grid positions 21-40 will take the 2nd Qualifying session of their Group.

 Micro, Mini, KA100 Ms, X30 Jr, X30 Ms and Master Shifter 

Sessions by class – separated into morning and afternoon groupings (per the final schedule to be given out at the track). 
Micro/Mini - Will be gridded by Pre-Entry order.

Starting grid positions for all heats are based on original qualifying times.
Heat scoring:  0pts-1st, 2pts-2nd, 3pts-3rd, 4pts-4th, and so on.

Grid by aggregate heat points (tie breaks by original qualifying time).

 KA100 Jr, KA100 Sr, X30 Sr and Pro Shifter 

Entries will be sorted in kart number order, and split into P1 and P2 practice groups by Scoring prior to the first practice session (published in the SKUSA App), P1 containing the lower numbered half. These groups will be set until the results of the last practice session on Wednesday; these last practice sessions will have to pass tech/scales, and the times will determine NEW practice and qualifying groupings (Q1/Q2) for Thursday’s practice sessions, as well as Friday’s Warm-up and Qualifying sessions, and Saturday’s Warm-up sessions. Note: See on-site detailed schedule; Q2 will always run before Q1 on track. Check the SKUSA APP for these group lists.

  • After qualifying, the entire field will be broken into 4 flights.  Top qualifier will be on pole in A, 2nd qualifier on pole in B, 3rd qualifier on pole in C, 4th qualifier on pole in D, 5th qualifier off pole in A, 6th qualifier off pole in B, and so on.
  • Flights: A vs B, C vs D, A vs C, B vs D, A vs D, B vs C per the published schedule (final schedule to be given out at the track).
  • Flight assignments remain the same for all heats.
  • Starting grid positions are based on original qualifying time (for all heats).
  • Heat scoring 0pts-1st, 2pts-2nd, 3pts-3rd, 4pts-4th and so on.
  • Top 34 (low to high aggregate flight heat points -- tie breaks are by original qualifying time) transfer directly to the main event. 
LCQs (Last Chance Qualifiers) 
  • Grid by aggregate flight heat points, low to high (tie breaks are by original qualifying time).
  • Field to be max 40 drivers, after the top 34 are removed from points standings.
  • Top 6 transfer to the rear of the main grid in LCQ Final finishing order.
Grid by aggregate flight heat points (tie breaks by original qualifying time); then LCQ finishers; then any of the top 3 in class from the Pro Tour points standings, any of the regional PKC champs that are not already in the grid, and any other ‘guaranteed’ spot winners from SKUSA not already in the grid.
