EKN Exclusive: Superkarts! USA SuperNationals 26 – Preview Series – Micro Swift
Saturday, 28 October 2023 00:00

A total of six different drivers have won the six different times the Micro Swift category has been offered at the SKUSA SuperNationals. The class made its debut in 2016 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, welcoming four different winners from different countries – Brazil, Great Britian, USA and Australia. The last two call the United States home with Keelan Harvick and Jackson Gibson. Defending winner Gibson has graduated from the Micro class, providing the opportunity for a seventh different winner to write their name into the history books on SuperSunday.

The 2023 season has been a year of growth for the youngest category on the national scene, and this year’s field is big once again at 44 drivers set to compete. Nine of the top-10 finishers in this year’s SKUSA Pro Tour standings are in the field, including series champion Maxwell Macha (SLA Racing / Sodi Kart). Macha won twice over the six rounds in 2023, landing on the podium five times. He will be among the 33 drivers in the field making their SuperNationals debut. Winning three times with four podiums on the SKUSA Pro Tour was Mexican driver Juan Diego Garciarce (Orsolon Racing / Parolin). He is among the 11 drivers who were in the field last year, recording a DNF at SuperNationals 25. Josh Bergman (Piquet Sports / Sodi Kart) joined them on the championship podium in the third position. His best performance was victory in Utah at the SpringNationals. SUPERKARTS! CONFIRMS ASPEN RACING FUELS USA RETURNS WITH THEIR ‘GREEN FOR GREEN’ $6,000 INITIATIVE AT SUPERNATIONALS 26
Thursday, 12 October 2023 14:16

As SKUSA inches closer to SuperNationals 26 and their return to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, they are pleased to confirm a continuation of the popular
ASPEN ‘Green 4 Green’ initiative, in concert with ASPEN Racing Fuels. The program sees the rewarding of cash to participating drivers of the SuperNationals, with the eligibility as follows:
  1. There will be (3) winners randomly chosen at the ‘Super Sunday’ opening ceremonies. Each winner will receive $2,000 USD in cash.
  2. The winners must be present at the Sunday ceremonies, even if they’re not racing (E.g. if they didn’t make it past the LCQ).
  3. To be eligible for the prize, you must be wearing an ASPEN tee shirt. SKUSA will have a supply of free tee-shirts at the registration desk, but racers are encouraged to bring theirs from home, as supplies will be limited.
“This is amazing,” remarked an enthusiastic SKUSA principal Tom Kutscher. “ASPEN continues to give back to the karting community, time and time again. It’s no secret racing is expensive and every little bit we can return to the drivers excites me. Having a partner like ASPEN who not only has a terrific product, but also a shared enthusiasm for this kind of promotion is a tremendous success.”

Superkarts! USA SuperNationals 26 Confirmed for November 8-12
Tuesday, 23 May 2023 11:44

The future of the iconic Superkarts! USA SuperNationals has been confirmed for the immediate future, as EKN has learned from the organization owner Tom Kutscher that he’s signed a three-year agreement for the event to be held on the grounds of the Las Vegas Motor Speedway through 2025. This year’s race – SKUSA SuperNationals 26 – will take place on November 8-12, one week ahead of the Formula 1 event in Las Vegas.

“As an organization, we are so excited and expecting another year of amazing international participation at SKUSA SuperNationals 26,” stated Tom Kutscher of Superkarts! USA. “After tireless months of negotiations, back and forth with multiple venues, finding enough asphalt to race, all while F1 is in town was a massive task for everyone involved.”

In 2021, SKUSA was forced to move the 24th running of the SKUSA SuperNationals from the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway at the last minute, but this year, the adjustment was required by the debut of the Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix. The Las Vegas Strip will be transformed into an F1 festival for their November 18-20 event, and the explosion of hotel room costs and demand put SKUSA in a place where a date and venue move was the only option.

It was a historic day in Las Vegas with the final chapter completed at Superkarts! USA SuperNationals 25. The Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino provided the stage for a 12th time in the 25-year history of the event. The weather was perfect for the 10 main events on SuperSunday following four days of practice, qualifying, three rounds of heat races and the Last Chance Qualifiers. Drivers from all over the world took on the final laps of the event to crown this year’s winners. PSL Karting / Birel ART defending their win from a year ago, this time with Spaniard Pedro Hiltbrand taking the $15,000 top prize in Pro Shifter while Frenchman Evan Giltaire gave both Kart Republic and Trinity Karting Group its first SuperNationals victory in X30 Senior.

Pro Shifter was the final race of the SKUSA SuperNationals 25 event and made history. Pole sitter Pedro Hiltbrand grabbed the initial holeshot and led the field around the opening circuit. The race was stopped after an incident on the long straight, bringing out a red flag. The field regrouped to restart single file and continue the event. Hiltbrand got away clean and put down consistent laps to maintain a lead on Estonian Markus Kajak (RPM / Tony Kart) throughout the 25-lap event. Fabian Federer (Magik Kart) advanced four spots up to third. Three-time SuperNationals runner-up Marijn Kremers (PSL / Birel ART) was fourth across the line but was handed a penalty for contact, dropping him to sixth, advancing Riccardo Longhi (PSL / Birel ART) to fourth and moving former SKUSA Pro Tour champion Jake French (PSL / Birel ART) to fifth.
