MG Tires Extends Partnership with Superkarts! USA in Conjunction with Release of New Spec Race Tire
Tuesday, 11 January 2011 01:00
Continuing what has been a prosperous partnership for many years, MG Tires and Superkarts! USA would like to jointly announce that they have extended their spec tire relationship for 2011 and beyond. In addition to the Brazilian manufacturer serving once again as the official tire for all SKUSA events, including the second edition of the Pro Tour and the company’s growing number of regional series, the 2011 season will mark the debut of the new specially branded MG-SK ‘SKUSA (white)’ tire, which will be utilized in all official Superkarts! USA events (except for the TaG Cadet class, which will remain on the MG-HZ ‘red’ tires). The new MG-SK tire is based on the proven and popular FZ compound, with only a small compound change put into effect to extend the durability of the tire. The new tire also comes with the official ‘SKUSA’ markings in the mold, further cementing the connection between the two companies.

“Our long relationship with Tom Kutscher and Superkarts! USA is extremely important to us and we’re very happy to have been able to continue our partnership,” offers Wagner Rossi, the owner of WR Motorsports, the North American importer for MG Tires.  “We are excited to see SKUSA’s continuing growth with their Pro Tour and, of course, the SuperNationals in Las Vegas. In working with Tom for 2011, we have made a slight compound adjustment at his request to provide their racers with increased durability in the new MG-SK, and we know that everyone will be very pleased with this year’s race tire.”

SKUSA and PKC Rule Changes for 2011
Written by John Motley - National Technical Director
Monday, 10 January 2011 21:15
Rear Protection:
Effective January 1, 2011, all competitors in SKUSA events are required to have full width rear protection (see below).  We realize that some may not have time to install the necessary protection by the first PKC events this year. Accordingly, we will allow an additional period for competitors to conform.  By the second scheduled race in both regions, you will be required to have the rear protection installed.

Inaugural Superkarts! USA Pro Tour Champions Decided
Wednesday, 08 December 2010 10:23
With the running of the Superkarts! USA SuperNationals XIV last month in Las Vegas, the inaugural season of the SKUSA Pro Tour came to a close in dramatic fashion. Outside the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, a record-breaking crowd of nearly 500 racers competed for five-days – with the nine championship categories closing out the final step in the chase for the title. The top-three drivers in the final standings -- including the champions – have won the rights to the coveted national number throughout the 2011 season. And for a select few, SKUSA and its series partners offered up a number of contingency programs to further add to the series prize purse.

“The first year of the SKUSA Pro Tour was a successful season,” commented Tom Kutscher of Superkarts! USA. “I can’t thank all of the drivers, teams and series supporters enough for making this inaugural season what it was.”

2011 Pro Tour Venue Update
Monday, 29 November 2010 17:31
SKUSA released the schedule for the second edition of the program back in early September and can now confirm the venues that will play host to the SpringNationals and SummerNationals. The program’s top pilots will kick things off at the amazing P1 Kart Circuit in Tucson, Arizona in late April during the SpringNats and will then head to Grand Junction Motor Speedway for the SummerNats in mid-July. Of course, the Pro Tour will wrap up in Las Vegas, Nevada for the historic 15th running of the wildly-popular SuperNationals.

“We’ve been working on the 2011 schedule and the venues for a couple of months, and in the end, our focus centered on bringing our program to new regions of the country so that we could both grow the Superkarts! USA brand and support the racers who are part of the SKUSA community,” offers Tom Kutscher, the organization’s leader. “Last year, we were in Northern California and Wisconsin to support the Pro Kart Challenge North and Central States Challenge programs. This time around, I wanted to get into Colorado for the SummerNationals to show our appreciation to the racers who are part of our Mountain Region. Our decision to start the season in Tucson was helped by the fact that it’s centrally located to make the trip manageable for drivers from California, Texas, Oklahoma, Utah and Colorado. The fact that both venues are incredible tracks is the icing on the cake!”
