For the sixth straight year, Superkarts! USA has capped its California ProKart Challenge season on the BLVD of Lancaster, California, and once again a record turnout of the West Coast’s most talented drivers put on a superb show for a huge crowd who lined the street course throughout the weekend. The Streets of Lancaster Grand Prix Driven by Sierra Toyota has become a must-attend event for a majority of the Stock Moto, X30, and Swift drivers in the western half of the United States and it is gaining national attention as a ‘bucket list’ race, as well. Superkarts! USA made a few schedule changes for this year’s event, running the S1/S2 Stock Moto and X30 Senior race groups entirely on Saturday, similar to a standard PKC weekend, which put the drivers under the lights for their main events in front of a huge Saturday night crowd. This put Matt Hamilton (S1) and Jake Craig (X30 Senior) in a well-deserved spotlight, as they topped strong fields to win in their respective classes.

The City of Lancaster will announce the 2017 Streets of Lancaster Grand Prix (SOLGP) Scholarship winner at the event’s closing ceremonies Sunday, September 25. Introduced in 2013, the “SOLGP Scholarship” is an initiative designed to help one young driver fund an entire year of kart racing. The selection process includes a thorough review of not only the individual’s driving skills, but also factors such as off-track conduct, personality, and attitude. The goal is to select a recipient who exemplifies all aspects of a true professional. Last year’s recipient, Trey Brown, was humble, had a good attitude, and showed respect, both on and off the track. He also enjoyed going to the track and helping kids improve their driving skills.

The 2016 California ProKart Challenge is set to wrap up next weekend during the eighth running of the Streets of Lancaster Grand Prix driven by Sierra Toyota. Over the September 23-25 weekend, the city of Lancaster is set to welcome karters from all over the west coast to compete in a three-day festival event along The BLVD section of the downtown area.

The Streets of Lancaster is a unique event for the Superkarts! USA regional program, spanning over two days of on-track action around a very fast five-turn street course. Many drivers in the western half of the United States travel and compete in Lancaster as a warm-up for the upcoming SKUSA SuperNationals event, which is celebrating its 20th edition this November.
